Today, a Miami federal judge found Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier in contempt of court for violating a restraining order that blocked enforcement of a new state law targeting undocumented immigrants. Jose Javier Rodriguez, candidate for Florida Attorney General, issued the following statement:
“Defying a federal court order on immigration isn’t just a legal violation - it’s abuse of power. Florida’s Attorney General chose to undermine the courts to push a partisan agenda, putting law enforcement in an impossible position and risking public trust. We need leaders who stand with the law and the people they serve, not ones who turn legal chaos into a political strategy."
