With House Speaker Daniel Perez already announcing a new redistricting committee, Republican leadership is pushing a blatant gerrymander, plain and simple.
Florida’s constitution is clear: maps cannot be drawn with the intent to favor or disfavor a political party, and they cannot diminish minority representation. Voters overwhelmingly approved these Fair Districts protections because they believe they should choose their representatives, not have their representatives choose them.
This power grab defies both the law and the will of the people. It’s not just about maps, it’s about the value of every Floridian’s vote. Under a rigged map, many voters will be placed in districts where the outcome is predetermined, leaving them with no real say in who represents them.
As Attorney General, I will enforce the constitution, uphold the Fair Districts Amendment, and protect every community’s right to fair representation.”
